PROJECT SUMMARY
Durham Construction Company, Inc., based in Clovis, CA, was selected by the State of California to execute a transformative replacement of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) facility at 655 W Olive Ave, Fresno, CA. This ambitious project was meticulously executed in three phases to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption. Phase 1 involved constructing a new parking lot and demolishing existing site structures, setting the foundation for the new facility. Phase 2 saw the construction of a state-of-the-art 19,960-square-foot DMV building, featuring a slab-on-grade, masonry, and structural steel design with architectural elements inspired by the Central San Joaquin Valley. In Phase 3, the original DMV building was demolished, and solar infrastructure was integrated into the site and building, achieving a Zero Net Energy (ZNE) design—one of the first for the State of California. Certified LEED Gold, this cutting-edge facility exemplifies Durham Construction’s expertise in sustainable construction, precise project management, and commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality public infrastructure that serves the community and sets a benchmark for environmental excellence
